Brace yourself, Summer is coming!

6月 17, 2015

During the season of final exams, projects, papers, and BC provincials, you are undoubtedly looking forward to the sweet relief of summer vacation. However, many of you may be too preoccupied with your hectic end-of-year schedules that you’ve neither the time, nor inclination, to plan your activities for the summer. With that in mind, here are some suggestions for using the summer months effectively, for both pleasure and productivity.

1.  Relax

You’ve worked hard during the school year, so take some time to relax and participate in activities that you enjoy. Pick up a new hobby that you didn’t have the time for during the school year, or finally pick up the book(s) that you’ve been meaning to read. Just make sure that you do not devolve into a couch potato while relaxing!

2.  Travel

If you’ve got the funds and the time, travelling is a great way to learn more about the world. Tour Europe and its fascinating historical and cultural landmarks. Travel to Japan and experience first-hand the intriguing culture of anime, cosplay, and, of course, sushi! Take a road-trip to the States and visit the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon. If you don’t have a destination in mind, or just don’t like to plan for trips yourself, you can always sign up for one of the many summer camps or summer exchange programs offered by prestigious universities all over the world. If you decide to go the route of summer camps or programs, you will even be able to put it on your resume when it comes time for university applications!

3.  Visit Potential Universities

If you’re in Grade 10 or 11, it’s a good idea to start checking out different universities that you might be interested in attending after you graduate. Take a mini-vacation with your family and explore the different options that each university offers. By visiting, and learning about, these universities early, you’ll give yourself plenty of time to make an informed choice about where to spend four of the best years in your life.

4.  Enrichment Classes

Studying is probably the last thing on your mind during summer, but two months is a long time! Why not take a few weeks to review what you’ve learned in the last year, or to preview what you will learn in the next? You can also use this time to start studying for the SAT, SAT 2, ACT, or various AP subjects if you’re preparing to go to the U.S. for university. If you choose this path, C2 Vancouver West offers many different summer classes to help ensure that you’ll be covered for the years to come.
