Timing is Everything
(When to Take the SAT/ACT)

August 15, 2015

[Promo at the end of the post]

One of the most common questions students ask at C2 is “when should I sign up to take the SAT/ACT?”. Most of the time, the answer to that question is “it depends”. Here are a few things to consider when deciding when you should take your official SAT/ACT:

  1. Application Process of Target Universities. Are you applying for early action, early decision, or regular admission? Different universities will have different deadlines for SAT/ACT score submission for each of the different types of admission processes. You must decide on the admission processes to which you will apply, and find out the deadlines for each of your chosen universities. After this, you will know by which exam date you must take the exam in order to meet the deadline(s) for the universities of your choice.
  2. Student Preparedness. This is an obvious one, but you should always be fully prepared before you take such an important exam. Some students have made the mistake of taking an exam just because they “feel like it’s time to give it a try”. This often results in sub-optimal scores that students MUST submit in their university applications, as well as the loss of time and money. With the C2 system, our students are always up to date on how well they’re learning the SAT/ACT, so they don’t have to risk taking the exam too early or too late.
  3. Current and Future Schedule and Workload. It is always recommended that students buckle down and immerse themselves in SAT/ACT studies a month or more before the actual exam dates. However, this would be difficult if the student were preoccupied with school or other activities. Therefore, it would be a smart idea for students to consider their schedules in advance, so they don’t overextend themselves during critical periods of their academic careers.

Even after taking these important factors into consideration, it can still be hard to plan the timing of your SAT/ACT tests by yourself. Why not let C2 help you with making this decision? See below for this month’s promo!
