Reading

  • The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

    — Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. The only problem is, if a student doesn’t master reading and gain the proper level of confidence early on, it can become a lifelong chore and something to be avoided. At C2, we work with our students at all levels to improve and broaden their reading skills.

  • Here’s what we offer our students at different grade levels:

    Elementary School:

C2’s elementary reading instruction is comprised of units that focus on recognizing phonics, building vocabulary, and improving comprehension. As your child acquires these skills, C2’s programs shift to incorporate more critical and context-based strategies.

    Secondary School:

C2 builds upon and expands children’s comprehension abilities. Our teachers promote the development of a broad vocabulary, and of proficiencies in critical reading and literary analysis. Students learn how to apply close reading and inferential techniques to a variety of subjects, from the humanities to the sciences.
